Hindsight is 20-20

My friend Buttercheeks sent me a year-end survey, ostensibly to learn more about me as a friend, but more likely because she's a psycho stalker and she wants to marry me.

It's 46 questions long (!) and trying to answer them all in one post in one sitting would probably make my fingers fall off, so I'm going to answer them in a series of posts that I hope to finish before we're in 2008. I just realized there are only four days left of this year, holy crap.

Anyhow, without further adieu...here is the 2007 City Elf Roundup, Part I.

1. Where did you begin 2007?

If I recall correctly, the Ex and I were at his best friend's brother's house in Canoga Park that evening.

2. What was your status by Valentine's Day?

I was single, but the Ex and I were still in the midst of our fake-up, and I think we may have had dinner that evening. I also got a mammogram that day!

3. Were you in school (anytime this year)?

Uh, no, thank God.

4. Did you have to go to the hospital?

Not for me, but I spent the longest day of my life there in July when my best friend was having an ablation to fix his chronic arrythmia.

5. Did you have any encounters with the police?

Unfortunately, no. I do love a man in uniform.

6. Where did you go on vacation?

In March, I visited Denver with my sisters and miraculously, nobody got hurt and there was very little weeping. I also went to Sacramento to go wine tasting with my friend Christy in April and to Las Vegas to see the mind-blowingly good Cirque du Soleil show Love with my friend Tita in June. And I made my annual pilgrimage to visit my family in Indiana at Thanksgiving, which was absolutely lovely.

7. What did you purchase that was over $500?

I bought a fancy-shmancy $750 television from Circuit City that didn't work right, so I returned it, so that probably doesn't count. I also bought a new laptop (yay!) from Dell, an Inspiron 1520. I'm using it right now!

8. Did you know anybody who got married?

Yep, but I didn't go to their wedding. (I wasn't invited. Hmph.)

9. Did you know anybody who passed away?

Yes, sadly, the Ex's mother, Martha, who was like a mother to me, passed away in August, just nine months after her husband Romeo died. It's still hard for me to believe that she's gone. I wear a necklace that was hers almost every day and I like to think it's a sort of talisman and that she's protecting me. I miss her so much.

10. Did you move anywhere?

Nope. Still living in Pasadena in the same place as last December.

Well, Butter, that's the first 10. Stay tuned for Part II, coming soon...
