Kurt Vonnegut died Wednesday at the age of 84. He was one of my favorite writers, and certainly one of the few I admire who are still alive - until yesterday, at least. I always wanted to meet him and now I guess I'll have to wait to see whether or not there's anything after this life. If there is, I'll say hello and thank you for making me want to stay close to the edge. If not, well, I'm grateful anyways.
"'He'd pull me back into the center, and I want to stay as close on the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.' He nodded, 'Big, undreamed-of things -- the people on the edge see them first.'"
