Says You!

A few weeks ago, I was reading Losanjealous and in a post on upcoming events, saw that Says You! was coming to the Skirball. Says You! is a public radio show, known as "a game of words and whimsy, bluff and bluster." (Wow, it reads almost as geeky as it sounds out loud.) It's sort of like Scrabble meets Trivial Pursuit meets Balderdash, but more literate.

Anyhow, it's one of my favorite radio shows and I've always wanted to see it live. I bought two tickets for the Friday night taping and dragged the Ex along with me. We actually had a great time - it was fun to see the panelists in person, even though Tony Kahn wasn't there. Richard Sher, the host and creator of the show, was very charming, but my favorite panelist was probably Arnie Reisman, who, when called upon to bluff a definition of the word 'loor,' said, "Well, my first thought was, where's the f in floor?" (If you don't find that amusing, well, try this post instead.)

In addition to Says You!, we've also attended two tapings of Garrison Keillor's radio show, A Prairie Home Companion, here in Los Angeles. At one point in the evening, I leaned over to the Ex and asked, "How many public radio show tapings do you think you have to attend before you qualify as a complete nerd?" He looked at me and replied, "Um, one."
